When you just want one glass of wine

Sometimes it's nice to have a glass of wine with dinner, but the whole bottle is too much. Here's a simple hack which will keep the rest of the bottle fresh for a good week!

The first step is to get yourself a smaller bottle (or a few). Good options are 375mL bottles (grab yourself a dessert wine such as our Late harvest Viognier), 250mL bottles (eg. boutique olive oil bottles), or 187mL wine bottles. Drink / use the contents and then wash and keep the bottle.

When you open your bottle of wine, immediately decant the portion of the bottle you are not going to drink now into the smaller bottle(s), i.e. half the bottle into a 375mL, two thirds of the bottle into 2 x 250mL, or three quarters of the bottle into 3 x 187mL. Make sure each bottle is full, no more than a centimeter or so from the top, do up the lids tightly and put the full bottles in a cool place (the fridge is great). These will keep for a good week, or even a bit longer depending on the wine.

If there's just one of you drinking and you only have a 375mL bottle, you can drink the first half of the bottle over 2 consecutive days and keep the other half for a few days or a week later (again over 2 consecutive days if you want).

If using smaller bottles, they are ready to "grab & go" single serves, whichever night of the week you choose! If it's a red just take it out of the fridge a little ahead of time to warm up a bit.

Cheers!
